Sales Management

MPI is currently looking to add several motivated, energetic members to its sales team. We are seeking  to fill sales management positions which require approximately 50% travel and 50% market management. Experience in the food, recycling, bulk material handling, and/or plastics industry is preferred. No relocation is required.

Field Service Technician

The ideal candidate will represent MPI’s standards of excellence while executing their day to day responsibilities in the commissioning, training, validation and repair service of all MPI Electronic Inspection Equipment. This equipment includes, but is not limited to, Metal Detectors, Check-weighers, X-ray Inspection, and UL 508A electrical panels. This person will be the face of MPI to external customers and a support to internal departments providing a vital role in assisting in MPI’s successful growth within the Electronic Inspection industry.

He/ She will possess a high aptitude in both electrical and mechanical areas, with the ability to diagnose and repair any of MPI’s electronic inspection equipment. This includes, but is not limited to, functional problems related to circuit boards, software menu setups, and manufacturing system interface errors. This person will also assist designers with electrical panel wiring and component schematic layouts, design requirements, UL documentation and perform physical panel builds to ensure compliance with UL approved equipment.

Responsibilities:

  • Execute all customer on-site installations and commissioning for electronic inspection equipment
  • Provide telephone and email technical support to MPI staff, Sales Channel Partners (SCPs) and end users nationally and internationally
  • Provide customer training
  • Identify, assist and provide hands-on support for installation challenges as they arise
  • Assist the sales team in educating and training SCPs and end users
  • Assist in customer product testing
  • Review and ensure design compliance and markings for all 508A electrical panels and components. Perform electrical panel builds as required, document all required information and testing, support panel shop UL-508A audits.
  • Travel required up to 75%
  • Complete service reports, time sheets and expense reports as required
  • Comply to company work standards and policies
  • Adhere to company and customer safety rules and regulations
  • Support customer schedules and delivery requirements
  • Weekend work as required

Requirements:

  • Associates degree in Electronics or Mechatronics or equivalent work experience
  • 3+ years’ experience performing technical repairs / service on Metal Detectors, X-ray systems, Sensor technologies, Mechatronic or similar systems
  • Excellent electrical, software, and mechanical troubleshooting skills a must
  • Experience with computers, networks, and IT
  • Experience travelling unsupervised throughout North America and internationally as required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills a must
  • Ability to interface with the customer to identify and resolve customer concerns
  • Experience using MS Office tools
  • Basic AutoCad experience is a plus
  • Working knowledge of conveyor systems
  • The ability to define and manage customer expectations is critical
  • Candidate must have the ability to lift 50 lbs. without restrictions. Walking distances, transporting tools through the Customer’s location is required. Climbing steps and ladders, working in areas offering tight access is frequently required.

Class 2 Welder

The Class 2 tig welder is proficient at reading blue prints, fitting, and completing weldments with higher grade finishes. Not only will this position effectively weld and finish standard existing MPI products, but is also able to produce custom products.

Responsibilities:
   • Maintain company Work Standards.
   • Maintain safe operations by adhering to company safety rules and regulations.
   • Meet schedules and delivery requirements.
   • Safely operate and maintain all weld machines.
   • Effectively and safely work with both ceramic and neo magnets.
   • Knowledge of weld setup parameters.
   • Effectively produce stitch welds, seam welds, and sanitary seam welds (ground and not ground).
   • Effectively read blue prints and customer specifications.
   • Effectively perform an economy finish that reduces scratches and burns.
   • Effectively perform a sanitary finish that removes all scratches and burns.
   • Perform some food grade finishing which all surfaces are finished at 180 grit or better.
   • Knowledge of wiring and installing air valves, VFDs, motors, and/or reducers onto finish products.
   • Assembly of finished products that require the use of hand tools.
   • Lift and/or turn product using the forklift and/or crane.
   • Approve and document all work for quality and completeness before moving to next operation.
   • Perform quality inspections (QCIR) on all class 1 products.
   • Maintain a well-organized and clean work environment in the weld department


Key Skills and Abilities:
   • Minimum three years tig welding experience.
   • Solid background welding thin gauge stainless steel.
   • Proven measurement and mathematical skills.
   • Weld certification is a plus.
   • Ability to continuously stand or walk.
   • Ability to bend, squat, and lift frequently.
   • Ability to lift minimum 30 pounds up to 100 pounds by hand throughout the day


Safety Equipment Required:
   • Must wear safety eye-glasses while on the manufacturing floor.
   • Must wear steel toe shoes while on the manufacturing floor.
   • Must have own weld helmet.
   • Pass forklift certification, both written and practical test
   • Must have own hand tools and weld helmet

Quality Coordinator

This person will represent MPI’s standards of excellence while executing their day to day responsibilities as a Quality Coordinator.  This includes the oversight of all quality control documentation and tracking as part of the manufacturing process for all products, as well as in coming purchased parts.  Key functions include compliance to quality procedures and checks, performance final quality testing and verification, creation / documentation of quality parameters, creation / revision in quality procedures and protocols, champion of root cause analysis and reporting, training employees in quality procedures and preparing the company for ISO-9001 certification.

He/ She will possess a high aptitude in both Electrical and Mechanical areas, with the ability to review schematics/drawings/designs and determine if manufactured equipment meets design specifications.  Ideally, this person would also be able to support designers with electrical panel wiring and component schematic layouts, design requirements, UL documentation and physical panel builds to ensure compliance with UL 508A for electrical panels as it relates to quality. .

Responsibilities:

  • Lead by example when addressing quality issues. 
  • Inspect products manufactured for flaws or defects.  Test items by analyzing size, weight, chemical composition, product performance and performance of sub-components.  Oversees all QCIR (Quality Control Inspection Report) documents and make changes that will improve MPI’s Quality capabilities as a leader in the industry. Prepare and maintain cost of quality metric and FPY (First Time Part Yields).  Will report out results weekly to the production floor and management.
  • Experiment with products to determine reliability and if it will withstand wear and tear. Improve upon materials and parts used in production process.  Ensure production process meets industry standards.
  • Perform statistical analysis and data analysis.  Create reports of quality control tests and analyze the data to determine if any changes in the production process are necessary.  Develop and implement quality improvement activities and policies.  Fulfill documentation and reporting requirements for the Quality Management program.
  • Develop performance improvement targets for quality, service and efficiency.  Determine if program is achieving its goals.  Implement systems to ensure that services conform to regulatory requirement. 
  • Approve incoming material by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, rejecting the non-conforming material.
  • Develop educational materials.  Develop and maintain a system for outcomes measurement.  Assist with quality control audits.
  • Provide external customer support.  Investigate, monitor, document and report on quality of care and service issues.  Conduct surveys to solicit feedback.
  • Assist the company in achieving ISO 9001 certification.
  • Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures.
  • Confirm and support adherence to compliance of our certifications (508A, UL certification) for electrical panels.

Skills: 

  • Knowledge of Microsoft word, excel, power point.
  • Strong communication and organization skills.
  • Experience with principals of continuous quality improvement.
  • Able to analyze and document information.
  • Able to read blue prints and electrical schematics.
  • Able to use and understand measuring/testing equipment- calipers, pull test scales, etc.

Preferred Skills: 

  • Associates degree in Electronics or Mechatronics or equivalent work experience.
  • 3+ years’ experience performing technical repairs / service on Metal Detectors, Sensor technologies, Mechatronic or similar systems.
  • Excellent electrical, software, and mechanical troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to translate hardware I/O functions from specifications into PLC logic programming/modifications, preferred
  • Experience with computers, networks, and IT.
  • Ability to interface and work in a team environment to resolve customer concerns.
  • Basic welding and fabrication skills a plus
